Los Angeles Dodgers Outsource Dodgers Magazine to httprint
Press release from the issuing company
SAN FRANCISCO, February 26, 2002 – httprint, a business process outsourcer focused on the printing and publishing sector, today announced a three-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers professional baseball team to produce its official publication, Dodgers Magazine. Under the agreement, httprint will provide turnkey management of design, production, promotions and distribution. The publication will be available for purchase at all Dodgers home games beginning April 2, when the Dodgers open the season against the San Francisco Giants.
"We're thrilled to offer such a prestigious organization like the Los Angeles Dodgers our managed solution, and are pleased to help usher the franchise into the digital age of publishing," said Mark Porter, CEO, httprint. "This project win confirms that organizations are looking to outsource their production needs. The Dodgers are a great example of an organization that fully understands publishing and is committed to providing a quality product to its fans, but prefers to outsource that function so it can focus on other, more core aspects of Dodger Baseball."
Through its Managed Services capabilities, httprint will provide strategy, solutions and digital workflow management as well as design and production of the Dodgers Magazine. In addition, httprint will work with the Dodgers' marketing and merchandising teams to extend the Dodgers brand by creating new opportunities for revenue, distribution venues and visibility.
"httprint presented us a turnkey solution to deliver lively, relevant content to Dodgers fans by offering the right mix of production and publishing resources, marketing and management expertise, as well as a relevant sports background in their clients' base," said Derrick Hall, senior vice president of communications, Los Angeles Dodgers. "httprint clearly demonstrated that it has the solution set we need to take Dodgers Magazine to the next level, and to help us shorten production cycles and save money in the process."
In addition to managing outsourced solutions for the Los Angeles Dodgers, httprint provides managed solutions to DIRECTV Sports and Leeds United of the English Premier Football League.
