February 18, 2002 - NPES President Regis J. Delmontagne joined with a small multi-industry delegation of business leaders in Washington, DC on February 5 for a meeting with Environmental Protection Agency Administrator and former New Jersey Governor Christie Whitman. The meeting was organized by the Environmental Action Group, of which NPES has been a member for more than a decade. It provided an opportunity to brief the EPA chief on issues of ongoing concern to the printing, publishing and converting industries, like reform of the Clean Air Act and methods for measuring compliance with various emission requirements. In addition, Delmontagne used the opportunity to express an urgent new concern facing the industry, the security and continuing viability of the U.S. Postal Service, and its ability to disseminate printed material in the post-September 11 environment.
