Consolidated Graphics Completes Purchase of American Lithographers

HOUSTON--Feb. 7, 2002--Consolidated Graphics announced today that it has completed its acquisition of the American Lithographers, Inc. division of Smurfit Packaging Corporation, a subsidiary of Jefferson Smurfit Group, plc. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Joe R. Davis, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Consolidated Graphics, commented, "American Lithographers continues our acquisition strategy and expands our west-coast presence with the addition of one of California's top web and sheet-fed printers with facilities in both Hayward and Sacramento.'' "As the largest printer in northern California, American Lithographers' extensive web capacity is key to our growth strategy. In addition, this web capability greatly enhances the product offering for our other 16 operations in the western United States,'' stated Charles F. White, President and Chief Operating Officer. "We could not be more pleased to bring the outstanding customer base and fine reputation of American Lithographers to the Consolidated Graphics team.''
