Mail-Well Names Its New Safety Window Envelope: The Visulope

Press release from the issuing company

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Nov. 14 - Mail-Well, Inc. the world's largest envelope manufacturer, today named its new safety window envelope the Visulope(TM). "We believe this name is a very accurate description of what our technology and unique envelope design allows the public to do-namely, to see what is inside the envelope before they open it. Hence the name Visulope(TM),'' said Bob Hart, president and CEO of Mail-Well Envelope. Mail-Well's Visulope(TM) went from product idea to manufacturing in only two weeks. The new product is in response to numerous customer inquiries for envelope products that consumers will feel more secure in opening. The Visulope(TM) is designed to allow the visual detection of unusual substances within an envelope by allowing mail handlers and recipients to look through windows that wrap around the bottom of the envelope. "Initial response to the Visulope(TM) has been highly favorable,'' Hart said. "Our customers need safety-oriented envelopes that we can produce quickly, and that they can begin using immediately. Large mailers are asking our engineers to design envelope products that will bring greater safety, security and comfort to the mail system. The Visulope(TM) is our first response, but we are continuing to work around the clock in conjunction with paper companies, scientists and other researchers to create additional mailing products that will further increase the safety and security of the mail.'' Mail-Well Envelope produces 135 million envelopes per day in 50 envelope plants across North America. In addition to putting into immediate production the Visulope(TM) and beginning production of a separate line of safety-oriented products-Tamper-Evident Envelopes-Mail-Well has initiated a rush research and development program aimed at incorporating existing biological technologies into new envelope products, including the Contamination Alert Envelope and the Antibacterial Envelope. Mail-Well Envelope's primary customers are large direct mailers and transactional mail customers, such as banks and credit card companies, that mail millions of product announcements, bills and payment envelopes every month.
