Having overcome many obstacles as a start up Internet business we are proud to lay our battered and bruised bodies down for a split moment to say thanks to all those that believed in us and our services as well as to reflect upon what we have learned.
We have learned that by offering a quality service with the right technology a company can produce a winning combination. After well over 15,000 registered users and 2,000 jobs posted we can honestly say we have succeeded in becoming quite the up and coming niche job board. Some of the broader things we have learned can be broken down.
1) A quality service can over come competition. Even when the competition over hypes itself. I often run into organizations that start job boards as a bi-product of their site or in hopes of adding an easy new revenue stream. The problem is that the job board is not a focus of the organization and tends to be ignored when it comes to investing in its success. We at PrintWorkers have really put our focus on being a valuable resource for industry people looking for a fast and easy way to find great companies to work for. We also keep our focus on the employer side and ensure a steady stream qualified job seekers continually register on the site.
2) That it is not the quantity of the response you get, but the quality and success of the job posting. Many have lost sight of the all important question "Did the posting produce a great hire?". So often the sheer quantities of responses gives the illusion of a successful posting, but when all is said and done did it produce the needed result? And if so, how much time was spent weeding through many resumes with unrelated skills? It has become our mission to ensure that clients jobs are viewed by qualified candidates who are interested in positions at the time of the posting and with the appropriate skill sets.
3) Free is not the way. It is key that all understand that Free job boards are dangerous. WHY? How does the site market? How does it gather quality Job Seekers? Intricate technology that crawls the web for resumes is not an answer. People are real and you must reach out and gain their trust. Reach them in ways other than just the Internet. You must also beware of large resume site that do not keep the resumes up to date. PrintWorkers targets the industry people that are truly looking for new opportunities. We offer them a service that is more than just a resume bank, it is a career resource site for them.
