MENASHA, Wis., Nov. 5 -- Xerox Corporation senior executive Ursula M. Burns will join the Banta Corporation Board of Directors effective January 1, 2002.
Ms. Burns, 43, was recently named President of Xerox's largest global enterprise, the Document Systems and Solutions Group. Her election strengthens the Board's global manufacturing and supply-chain management expertise while reinforcing Banta's commitment to a corporate-wide environment of continuous improvement and innovation.
"Ursula's broad business experience in managing major growth sectors of a global imaging company coupled with her strong background in manufacturing and supply-chain management will be especially valuable in helping guide our print and global supply-chain management growth strategies,'' says Donald D. Belcher, Banta Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
"In addition, Ursula's long-time involvement in the areas of imaging technology and document management will be of particular importance as we continue to leverage new opportunities in expanding and enhancing our print and Web-based information management capabilities.''
Burns joined Xerox in 1980 as a mechanical engineer, advancing through several engineering and production management positions prior to being named Executive Assistant to Xerox's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 1991. Burns was appointed Vice President and General Manager, Office Color and Facsimile Business in 1992 and the following year she became Vice President and General Manager, Office Network Copying Business. She continued to advance through successively more responsible positions, and was Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategic Services/Worldwide Business Services prior to her most recent appointment in October of this year.
Burns earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Polytechnic Institute of New York and a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Columbia University. She serves on the Board of Directors of Hunt Corporation in Philadelphia, Pa., and the PQ Corporation in Valley Forge.
