IKON Announces EFI Velocity 110 for High Volume Digital Print Environments

Press release from the issuing company

VALLEY FORGE, Pa., Nov. 1 -- IKON Office Solutions today announced immediate availability of the EFI Velocity(TM) 110 from IKON -- a robust front-end system that provides advanced control over production-level workflow. The Velocity 110 is designed to manage document input, manipulation and output via the EFI Velocity Workstation and delivers fully composed documents to the Canon imageRUNNER 110 (iR110) with an EFI Fiery PS110 RIP included, and any other EFI-driven imaging device, color or black-and-white. The Velocity 110 solution will allow high-volume environments to: integrate color in a cost-effective manner; leverage the flexibility of Adobe PDF technology to create customized files from paper-based and electronic originals; reduce job turnaround times by load balancing to achieve increased speed; grow output volume capacity; and, overall, offer a more effective way to leverage equipment investments. "Customers looking for a production printing solution that integrates monochrome and color with PDF workflow and that extends speed and volume capabilities, will see great benefits from the Velocity 110,'' said Cathy Lewis, IKON Senior Vice President of Marketing. "Velocity from IKON should be a welcome addition and compliment to customer environments with existing EFI-driven devices as well as serve as the foundation for new operations.'' A typical Velocity-enabled workflow might utilize Velocity Scan(TM) to import documents into a digital workflow, display the images in Velocity Build(TM) to add/delete pages within the file or other scanned/electronic documents, re-order pages and manipulate content. An operator could then could create a booklet via Velocity's imposition technology and split print the document using Velocity Balance(TM), sending standard pages and tabs to the Canon iR 110 and color covers to the Ricoh Aficio Color 6513 (runs up to 140 lb. index stock). The document could then be merged via the Canon iR 110 Inserter and finished with Canon's inline Booklet Maker, delivering end-to-end document production capabilities. EFI Velocity 110 from IKON leverages operator-defined, rules-based routing to quickly and cost-efficiently fulfill virtually any application. The Canon iR 110 can be paired with another monochrome device to improve black-and-white speed and volume, or a color device to enable production of cost-effective color documents. The integration of optional Velocity modules, such as Velocity Estimate(TM), adds job cost estimating, variable data and more. "Gone are the days of mass producing, warehousing, distributing and scrapping,'' said Ed Borgo, Vice President of Production Marketing for IKON Office Solutions. "Now, if the application demands it, the Velocity 110 solution can provide on-demand electronic job layout, tabs and color covers to create a high volume, custom booklet in short order.'' Visit IKON at Xplor, Booth #701, and see the Velocity 110 distribute jobs to a Canon imageRUNNER 110 and two IKON-exclusive EDOX-driven Canon CLC 5000s - a 110 ppm monochrome/100 ppm color solution.
