IKON Shows the IKON Color Cluster at Xplor, Alternative to Traditional Printing

Press release from the issuing company

VALLEY FORGE, Pa., Oct. 30 -- IKON Office Solutions today announced immediate availability of the IKON Color Cluster -- an on-demand production color printing system. This bundled solution will deliver 100 page-per-minute, full-color digital output, creating the most attractive alternative to the expensive and time-consuming processes associated with traditional offset printing available today. The IKON Color Cluster brings together industry-leading technology from Canon USA and Electronics for Imaging (EFI), including: an EFI Velocity(TM) Server that directs workflow to two Canon CLC 5000 color digital imaging systems, each driven by IKON-exclusive EDOX document servers. "IKON's Color Cluster will appeal to in-plant print shops as well as commercial and quick printers looking to shift jobs, such as booklets and brochures, away from expensive presses,'' said Ed Borgo, Vice President of Production Marketing for IKON Office Solutions. "Reduced set-up times and cost-efficient short-run capabilities will allow these companies to attract more customers and enjoy faster turnaround.'' Velocity Server can load balance long documents or multiple sets, based on operator-defined requirements, to the two 50-ppm Canon CLC 5000s. While the two CLCs function as one 100-ppm virtual printer, separately they provide redundancy to minimize missed deadlines and customer dissatisfaction. Pantone colors and ICC profiles are supported by Spot-On color matching on EDOX document servers, ensuring high-quality color standards in the transition from offset to digital technology. Additionally, EDOX Varidata and Varidox tools enable the customization of documents for personalized, one-to-one marketing applications. "The IKON Color Cluster is yet another example of IKON's commitment to open-architecture, best-of-breed solutions that meet specific customer needs,'' said Cathy Lewis, IKON Senior Vice President of Marketing. "More than ever in these cost conscious times, IKON is dedicated to delivering affordable on-demand color as volume shifts from traditional offset and digital monochrome systems.''
