Glass And Follens Appointed New Members to Agfa Board

Mortsel (Belgium), 25-09-2001 - The Board of Directors of Agfa-Gevaert N.V. has appointed André BERGEN, Director and Chief Financial & Administration Officer, as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Management. The Board of Directors further decided to enlarge the Board of Management with two new members, John GLASS and Albert FOLLENS, who will join Ludo VERHOEVEN, Chairman and CEO, André BERGEN and Wout VAN DER KOOIJ. Within the Board of Management, John GLASS will be responsible for the Business Group HealthCare, which combines HealthCare Imaging and HealthCare Informatics and for the Region Nafta, while A. FOLLENS will be responsible for the Business Groups Non Destructive Testing and Indsutrial Imaging, for Photochemical Production and Research, Corporate Research on Equipment and Environmental Issues. JOHN GLASS is of Canadian nationality and is 50 years old. He studied Professional Engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada and Marketing at the University of Western Ontario Business School. He started his career in 1985 in Kodak, where he occupied several functions and became Vice President of Kodak's Health Science. In 1993 he joined Agfa Inc. Toronto and subsequently went to Agfa Corporation in New Jersey, USA where he was appointed Vice President Medical Sales and, in 1996, President of the Technical Imaging Division. In 1999 he came to Belgium to become the Head of Medical Imaging of Agfa. ALBERT FOLLENS is 54 years old and of Belgian nationality. He studied Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Ghent, Belgium and Business Administration at the University of Antwerp. He started his career with Philips in 1969 and joined Agfa in 1970. He had several functions in technological research of process automation and coating, headed the Instrumentation Department and became Head of Logistics in 1990. In 1997 he was appointed Director of Production and Engineering and site Manager of Mortsel. Since 1999 he is responsible for Agfa's worldwide Photochemical Production and Engineering.
