Press release from the issuing company
FOSTER CITY, Calif.-Sept. 20, 2001--Electronics For Imaging, Inc., the world leader in providing hardware and software imaging solutions for networked printers and copiers, announces the next generation of its industry-leading Fiery controllers at the Seybold tradeshow in San Francisco next week. EFI will demonstrate the new Fiery Z5(TM) and Fiery Z18(TM) high-performance color servers and a powerful, advanced new software package featuring specialized tools for graphic arts professionals. The new Fiery product line, demonstrated in booth no. 1205, emphasizes EFI's theme to deliver the "Power to Perform'' on the most demanding color print jobs.
EFI's new Fiery Z5 and Fiery Z18 servers will provide speed, precision, and advanced workflow controls to maximize both print quality and productivity. Each platform features dramatic improvements in printing speed, greater color management control, enhanced workflow and more flexible, expanded variable data support.
"The new Fiery servers demonstrate EFI's continuing leadership in developing cutting edge digital color printing solutions that span hardware, software, and professional services,'' said Guy Gecht, CEO, Electronics for Imaging, Inc. "We're excited to demonstrate our newest innovations, and to extend Fiery's capabilities to meet the needs of creative graphic arts professionals.''
The Fiery Z5 delivers fast, dependable output to mid-range print engines. It is designed for a wide variety of print environments, from corporate and print-for-pay shops to graphic arts, and offers professional-level color quality and performance at a great value. The Fiery Z18 is built for intensive production environments, from design firms and CRDs to commercial printers. It has the power to drive production engines at full-speed for maximum throughput, and features enhanced workflow and management tools, such as Fiery DocBuilder(TM) Pro(TM) for document editing and assembly, and enhanced variable data printing capabilities.
The new Fiery platforms are optimized for EFI's upcoming advanced software, including the new Fiery Graphic Arts Package, which offers graphic arts professionals greater flexibility, predictability, and repeatability. The suite features specialized tools to achieve consistently accurate color and print quality for more precise proofs and simulations in varied document formats. The EFI Color Profiler(TM) is also a new option for the Z5 and Z18. It includes profile creation software and an EFI Spectrometer(TM), making it the only integrated solution available from a single vendor.
Additionally, EFI will be demonstrating its new variable data printing (VDP) solutions. EFI offers a customized approach to ensure that users can take full advantage of the evolving capabilities of VDP applications and powerful print engines regardless of the brand of database management system, generator software, or page layout program. Special Fiery versions of VDP applications Pageflex Persona and Atlas PrintShop Mail have been optimized for the Z5 and Z18 platforms. In addition, the platforms support the emerging industry standard PPML language, as well as proprietary legacy languages.
The Seybold San Francisco Expo runs Sept. 25-27 in San Francisco at the Moscone Center. EFI's new Fiery line of products will be demonstrated in booth no. 1205.
