Imation and RealTimeImage Combine to Define New Virtual Proofing Category
Press release from the issuing company
OAKDALE, Minn. (September 6, 2001) Advancing a breakthrough proofing technology, Imation will preview its new solution for accurate and consistent monitor-to-monitor CMYK proofing Imation Matchprint Virtual Proofing at the Print 01 tradeshow in Chicago, September 6 ? 13. The new "virtual" proofing solution combines Imation's advanced color technology with RealTimeImage's unique, full resolution image-streaming and collaboration tools. Previews will be available in Imation's Booth 5805.
The demonstration brings the industry a look at the future of digital proofing a monitor-based proof that truly and automatically replicates the hardcopy color. The hardware, software and service-based solution is the result of Imation breakthroughs in color science, and partnership with RealTimeImage to incorporate its advanced real-time proofing tools.
"Imation and RealTimeImage have a very blended vision for 'virtual' proofing: giving the customer the ability to deliver proofs across a network in real time, with complete confidence that the color image on the monitor is consistent with the image they will see on final output," said Dr. Chris Edge, chief scientist for Imation's Color Digital Software Group.
The Imation Matchprint Virtual Proofing solution is an easy-to-use system that can be customized to specific color targets, designated by the client. The Matchprint Virtual Proofing solution moves the best that "soft proofing" has offered so far to a new level by rendering accurate CMYK color to an RGB display, providing an accurate color proof that is consistent with final color output.
The Imation Matchprint Virtual Proofing solution is currently in Alpha testing at a major advertising agency, pre-press house and publisher, and the company will expand user sites during Beta testing in fourth quarter of this year.
"Our confidence factor at Imation is very high. All the pieces of the Matchprint Virtual Proofing solution are in place and we're in the process of optimizing integration to deliver Imation's color promise, consistent with the Matchprint brand proofing quality," Edge added.
