Springfield, MA — The Paper Receipts Converting Association (PRCA) is proud to announce the launch of its new Consumer Video Campaign, featuring a series of videos that are now available to view. The campaign is a nationwide effort aimed at correcting misconceptions about the safety and sustainability of paper receipts. The campaign uses engaging, fact-based storytelling to help consumers understand the truth behind one of the most familiar and misunderstood products in daily life.
In recent years, mixed messages and online misinformation have led to confusion among consumers regarding the purpose, sustainability, and security of paper receipts. This campaign aims to reset the narrative by offering simple, fact-based explanations that highlight the role paper receipts play in everyday life.
The videos focus on three key themes:
- Privacy and Security: Highlighting how paper receipts provide immediate proof of purchase without collecting personal data, helping consumers avoid privacy risks, spam, and data breaches.
- The Hidden Cost of Digital: Exposing the environmental toll of digital alternatives, including the electricity and water consumption of data storage infrastructure, while underscoring the renewable and low-carbon benefits of paper.
- Sustainability and Circularity: Demonstrating that trees used for paper are grown as a renewable crop and when managed responsibly, ensure healthy forests and recyclable products that support a circular economy.
“Consumers are hearing numerous conflicting claims about paper receipts, many of which are incomplete or misleading. This campaign is our effort to bring clarity and credibility back into the conversation,” said Mike Rapier, President of PRCA. “Paper receipts that are responsibly made are secure, rooted in renewable resources, and they continue to play an essential role in everyday transactions. We want consumers to feel confident knowing the facts, not the headlines.”
By addressing misinformation directly and promoting transparency, the campaign reinforces PRCA’s commitment to environmental responsibility, consumer education, and industry leadership.
