Xerox Offers First Workgroup Single Pass Color Laser Printer

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO--Sept. 6, 2001-- Xerox Corporation today announced the Xerox Phaser7700 Color Laser Printer, the industry's first tabloid color laser printer capable of exceptional color quality and unsurpassed speeds of 22 pages per minute in color and black-and-white. At an estimated retail price of $6,999, the Phaser 7700 is the newest addition to the award-winning Xerox line of Phaser network color printers. Several of the printer's advancements are a result of single pass laser technology, which enables the printer to deposit all toner colors on the paper in one pass, rather than the four passes required by traditional color laser printers. In addition to speeds more than three times faster than other tabloid color laser printers, the Phaser 7700 supports media sizes from 4" x 6'' to 12" x 18'' and meets the demanding requirements of the graphics professional, as well as any office user. Xerox is also offering an updated version of its exclusive PhaserMatch(tm) color management software, which works with Mac OS or Windows and is designed specifically for this product. PhaserMatch ICC 7700 ensures that color output from the printer accurately matches the colors of printing presses and other output devices, which is essential for the graphic design customer. "This quality and speed advancement in laser printing validates Xerox's commitment to developing new and superior color technologies,'' said Gerry Perkel, president, Xerox Office Printing Business. "The Phaser 7700 demonstrates our ability to deliver the best color printers to graphics and office customers.'' In addition to color quality and performance, the Phaser 7700 provides outstanding media flexibility. The printer has 11" x 17'' full-bleed capabilities, automatic two-sided printing and an optional finisher/stacker for maximum output flexibility. Automatic color and paper calibration provide consistent and accurate imaging, with 1200 dpi for fine-line detail and photographic images. Also, the Phaser 7700 comes with a powerful Motorola G4 500 MHz processor that drives a fast first page out time of 13 seconds in color and 10 seconds in black-and-white.
