Barcelona, Spain | January 12–16

Rotatek Printing & Packaging Technologies S.L, a global manufacturer of rotary web offset hybrid printing and converting solutions, will unveil its latest innovation the Universal 850 printing press at an exclusive Open House from January 12 to 16 at its manufacturing facility in Barcelona, Spain.

The Universal 850 is a versatile rotary press that combines offset and flexo sleeve technologies, delivering high-quality printing across a wide range of substrates. The press is designed for multiple applications, including pharma inserts, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging, folding cartons, and in-mold labels (IML), making it suitable for both mature and emerging markets.

Live Demonstrations Focused on IML and Shrink Sleeves

"Rotatek Universal web-offset printing combines the core advantages of flexo and sheetfed offset while eliminating their limitations - delivering a superior quality, economical solution for high-performance in-mold label production." The live setup will include:

  • The Rotatek Universal 850, configured with 7 offset and 2 flexo printing stations, representing Rotatek’s most advanced and flexible press platform.
  • The Rietstack 850 offline die-cutting system, completing a fully integrated IML production workflow.

Target Audience

The Open House is aimed at:

  • IML producers currently active or planning to enter the segment.
  • Large sheetfed offset printers looking to transition to web-fed efficiency.
  • Flexo converters seeking to reduce recurring plate costs and achieve return on investment within three to four years.
  • Packaging producers requiring long repeat lengths of up to 1016 mm, or those focused on increasing capacity while reducing waste, labor, and overall production costs.

One of the key innovations of the Universal 850 is Rotatek’s patented interchangeable light offset sleeve system, which enables fast and efficient format changes. Job changeovers are completed by simply removing and replacing sleeves, reducing downtime and eliminating the risk of material breakage during transitions.

Along with its strong offset print performance, the Universal 850 offers format flexibility, quick job changes, and lower origination costs. Offset plates are significantly more economical than flexo plates or rotogravure rollers, providing converters with a clear cost advantage while maintaining consistent print quality.

The Open House will provide visitors with a comprehensive understanding of how the Universal 850 addresses productivity, flexibility, and cost-efficiency requirements across diverse packaging solutions. The registrations for visitors are currently open at the Rotatek and parent company Vinsak’s website.
