Lanskroun, Czech Republic – SOMA, an innovation-driven company of flexographic printing solutions, successfully hosted, on November 20, its SOMA Innovation Day 2025 at the company’s headquarters in Lanskroun, Czech Republic. The event was the highlight of SOMA’s Autumn Innovations series, which began at the K 2025 fair in Düsseldorf and continued with a global in-house gathering focused on live demonstrations and expert exchange.

Innovation Day welcomed around 200 industry professionals from all over the world, including printers, converters, and key partners. Guests learned about SOMA’s newest technologies not only through presentations, but particularly in live production demos and hands-on showcases. SOMA specialists were available throughout the day for detailed discussions.

A number of new SOMA technologies were featured:

SOMA Color Intelligence: Perfect Color in Every Print
Innovation Day offered a full presentation of SOMA Color Intelligence, a complete ecosystem for ultimate color control, that integrates several smart solutions to deliver maximum color consistency directly on press:

• Color Mind for on-press color correction with reduced waste and faster setup. The process enables operators to measure and correct color, reducing the number of color adjustments needed to reach the desired color target.
• SOMA Anilox Management for clear monitoring of anilox condition and stable color performance
• Intelligent Viscosity automatically compensates for temperature changes to keep ink viscosity constant
• Electric Ink Storm, an energy-saving system for efficient ink washing
Together, these tools deliver higher productivity, lower material consumption, and reliable, repeatable print quality.

Live Demo of Flexo IPU with Paper-Touch Varnish
A highlight of the day was a live demonstration of Flexo IPU – an intelligent printing unit downstream from a SOMA Optima2 flexo press applying a paper-touch varnish. IPU expands SOMA presses with additional stations to print premium coatings, applied in a single pass. The demonstration showed how converters can efficiently produce high-value packaging with effects such as soft touch, tactile finishes, matte coatings, barrier layers, heat-seal varnishes, and more—while increasing productivity and reducing overall production costs.

New S-Mount Features: Smart Verification & Digital Proofing
SOMA also introduced major upgrades to its S-Mount mounting system, designed to make plate mounting even faster, safer, and more precise. The new PDF to Plate Verification feature enables quick confirmation that mounted plates match original artwork data. In addition, Digital Proofing provides a full preview of the final image before printing begins. Together, these new tools help customers reduce setup time, minimize waste, and prevent costly errors.

“Autumn Innovations began at K 2025, but Innovation Day is where our partners could see the technologies in full scale, running live; and talking directly with our experts about real applications,” says Garrett Taylor, Sales Director at SOMA North America. “We are proud of the strong international attendance and the positive feedback we received.”
