Quark Announces Alliance with Publishing Technology Consulting Firm, DPCI

DENVER - August 21, 2001 - Quark Inc., a leading developer of tools and technologies for media-independent publishing, today announced a strategic alliance with Database Publishing Consultants Inc. (DPCI), a software development firm that builds customized systems to manage and deliver content to print, the Web, and wireless devices. DPCI will focus sales efforts for Quark Digital Media System (QuarkDMS), Quark Merchandise Manager, and Quark eStage on the catalog, direct marketing, entertainment, and publishing markets. Quark provides a technology platform for media-independent publishing solutions. DPCI designs and builds catalog workflow and direct marketing automation systems that integrate with accounting, resource management, and inventory applications. "We're very pleased to enter into this relationship with DPCI. They have proven time and time again that they understand their customers and are able to implement solutions according to a proven methodology," said Juergen Kurz, vice president of product management at Quark. "DPCI has extensive knowledge and experience with Quark technology, and is able to translate that expertise into customer benefits." DPCI's seasoned staff of certified QuarkDMS, Quark Merchandise Manager, and Quark eStage technicians has provided expertise for clients in the catalog, advertising, and publishing industries since the Beta release of QuarkDMS in 1999. "We are delighted with Quark's vision of publishing technology," said Tracy Costaldo, director of client services for DPCI. "We look forward to combining our services in custom application development and integration with Quark's next generation of enterprise content management and analysis systems." DPCI is also a certified system integrator of QPS, a server-based workgroup management system for publishers that was originally developed by Quark. The company has performed many installations across the United States, as well as in Canada, Europe, and Asia. DPCI staff have been working with Quark technology since QPS was released almost a decade ago.
