Pantone Unveils Second Universe Collection, New Designs and Colors

Press release from the issuing company

NEW YORK – August 13, 2001 – – Building on the success of its first consumer product line launched last year, Pantone, Inc., the worldwide authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the graphics, textile and industrial design industries, today unveiled its second PANTONE UNIVERSE collection. The new UNIVERSE collection provides consumers with products for today’s active lifestyle. Naturally, the collection is rendered in fun, fashion-forward colors that could only come from the experts at Pantone. Each product sports the PANTONE Logo as well as each color’s official number and name from the PANTONE TEXTILE Color System®, the leading color communication system used by fashion designers and manufacturers worldwide. The “Mobility” group, as its name indicates, consists of products designed to move with you, and are perfect for running from meeting to meeting or a weekend getaway. A practical messenger bag, sleek zippered document holder and compact toiletry case, all in vibrant PANTONE Colors, make up this collection. “Utility” makes the daily grind a little more tolerable and a lot more fun with colorful notebook covers in two sizes and a large business card holder to keep all your contacts within reach. A CD case and credit card holder round out the group. “The second PANTONE UNIVERSE collection is an exciting and logical progression for us,” said Lisa Herbert, executive vice president, PANTONE Home and Fashion. “We’ve taken the concepts that were so successful for us in our first collection and updated them in a way that fits the needs of today’s consumer through both color and design.” PANTONE UNIVERSE products are designed, marketed and distributed by Nekt, a consortium of international creators in fashion, art and design, committed to making and marketing unique, functional products. UNIVERSE products are available on the East Coast in New York at The Museum of Modern Art, DKNY, The Guggenheim Museum, Flight 001, MYXYPLYK, The Apartment and Sam Flax and on the West Coast in Los Angeles at Zipper, K-Bond and Fitzu. In addition, Universe is sold at Terence Conran Shops worldwide and on Pantone’s Web site at www.pantone.com.
