Engaging with industry leaders on the prospects for new business opportunities and brand value enabled by DPP
Tokyo – TOPPAN Group companies TOPPAN Digital Inc. (TOPPAN Digital) and Selinko SA (Selinko) will participate in the Luxury Innovation Summit, an international conference for the luxury industry held on September 1 and 2 in Geneva, Switzerland. On the event’s first day, TOPPAN Digital and Selinko will hold a joint session themed on the strategic use of Digital Product Passports (DPP)1 for luxury brands.
The Luxury Innovation Summit brings together the world’s luxury brands, startups, investors, and industry leaders for networking and discussions on the innovation and trends shaping the future of the luxury sector, including AI, sustainability, and the fusion of artisan skills with technology.
In the joint session, TOPPAN Digital and Selinko’s experts will engage with industry leaders on the topic of how DPP, which will become mandatory for products sold in the EU, can be turned into a competitive advantage. The two companies will present specific initiatives focusing on how to use product traceability to strengthen customer engagement, combat counterfeiting, advance sustainability strategies, and control resale markets , all while respecting the unique heritage and craftsmanship of each luxury brand.
Background and Aims
Against a backdrop of the introduction of DPP in the EU and consumers’ increasing focus of sustainability in the luxury sector, traceability and transparency are now required across the entire life cycle of products. Digital management of product information will become mandatory in the EU market, and brands are expected to see new competitive advantages based on enhanced supply chain transparency, anti-counterfeiting, and contribution to a circular economy.
Participating in the Luxury Innovation Summit for the first time, TOPPAN Digital and Selinko will hold a panel discussion on the strategic value of DPP when regulatory compliance is viewed as a growth opportunity. The two companies will help brands satisfy regulatory requirements at the same time as generating new value by fusing the TOPPAN Group’s NFC and RFID tags with its ID authentication platform technologies.
About the Joint Session
In addition to addressing DPP regulatory compliance, the joint session will explore in detail how product traceability can be harnessed to combat counterfeiting, build relationships directly with consumers, drive achievement of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) targets, and maintain value in resale markets. Discussions will also cover the role of solutions that are indispensable when introducing DPP.

1. Digital Product Passport?(DPP): A scheme primarily being introduced in Europe to record product information from manufacturing to disposal as digital data. The EU’s DPP regulations will apply to all products in certain categories sold in the region to allow consumers to confirm authenticity and view sustainability information and to contribute to increased transparency of the entire supply chain. DPP is scheduled to become mandatory for textile products from 2027.
