It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Phil Sylvester. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Phil was the Solutions Development Manager, ColorPath SYNC Solutions at Fujifilm Graphic Communications Division. Phil was a family focused man– he loved to spend time with his wife Christie, traveling to Maine to enjoy their cabin, as well as a loving dog “father” to his Samoyeds. Throughout their marriage, they had 7 Samoyed dogs. Phil enjoyed technology, cooking, and research in addition to the love for his dogs. Phil would spend many hours researching every bit of information on a topic in order to fully understand the best approach to any task at hand. Phil was a beloved uncle with fifty-three nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins.

Phil came to Fujifilm in November of 1999. He was very well versed in our products already, as before he came to work with Fujifilm, he installed the Scan Graphic imagesetters. He was the first technical representative to be allowed into the Itasca labs to install the first film imagesetter used by Fujifilm Graphics. Phil started out as a workflow technical advisor. His skills and attention to detail became known right away–he would stay late to learn the first Fujifilm Celebrant workflow and became the “go-to” field expert in most cases early on. In 2005, Phil then moved into the role of Solutions Development Manager and Lead Software Engineer for the very early cloud-based validation system Taskero ColorPath Verified, which then turned into the very successful ColorPath SYNC solution we know today! Phil devoted 19 years to software used daily in over 30 countries around the world, cementing his legacy at Fujifilm. As evidenced in his detailed research, Phil often amazed his coworkers, customers, and friends with brilliant concepts to tackle very difficult demands. Phil had 5 patents over the years and 2 directly related to ColorPath SYNC. Phil traveled the world in support of Fujifilm and all of the products he was involved with.

Phil was truly the image of the “trusted expert” who always put company, customer and fellow team members first, and with elegant solutions that just worked! His passing leave us all with a void knowing that we have not only lost an important and valued colleague and coworker, but we have lost a great friend.
