Press release from the issuing company
The Ontario-based custom signage company used Drytac’s Polar Transit Air and ReTac Smooth 150 to produce a range of signs and graphics for use across several Zehrs supermarket locations.
Richmond, VA, October 15, 2024: Canadian custom signage specialist Prosigns.ca recently used Drytac Polar Transit Air, a white 3.2 mil (80µ) polymeric self-adhesive vinyl and Drytac ReTac Smooth 150, a white 6 mil (150µ) polymeric self-adhesive vinyl to produce eye-catching signs and graphics for use across several Zehrs supermarket locations as part of a wider, multi-media promotional campaign.
Based in Barrie near Toronto, Prosigns.ca was founded in 1986 by Ron Brooks and delivers various signage and related products to customers. Among this wide-ranging offering is large-format print, vehicle graphics, real estate signage, and business signage.
For a recent project, Prosigns.ca worked with Zehrs, a Canadian supermarket chain owned by Loblaws Companies. The group was wanting to support a social media campaign with in-store signage and graphics.
Jason Brooks, son of Prosigns.ca owner Ron and Sales Manager at the business, was contacted by an old friend who is an Assistant Manager at the nearby Orillia Zehrs location. This led to Prosigns.ca producing signage and graphics for the store in line with the wider campaign.
Not long after, seven other stores – four in Barrie and three further afield – also got in touch with the team at Prosigns.ca, seeking similar materials. One location also required support with rebranding from a Loblaws to Zehrs.
Flexible approach
For the signage installed on shelving and freezer units across all stores, Prosigns.ca elected to work with Drytac Polar Transit Air. This white matte, printable vinyl features a unique grey removable adhesive with bubble-free application technology that makes application easy for users. They also used Interlam Pro Matte and Lustre laminate for added protection on the signage and graphics.
As for the wall graphics, Prosigns.ca used Drytac’s ReTac Smooth 150, a polymeric PVC film that enables users to install, remove and reposition graphics without leaving residue on the surface. The printable self-adhesive vinyl is ideal for many indoor wall graphics applications.
Both materials were purchased through ND Graphics, an approved distributor of Drytac products in Canada. Prosigns.ca printed all materials in-house on its HP Latex 365, with some cutting carried out on its Roland XC-540 Pro 3.
“We chose these materials due to the versatility of the product for where we were applying them, ease of application, removability if they changed their campaign and the trusted brand,” Jason said. “We have been working with Drytac, through ND Graphics, for more than four years now and love the performance of the products and ease of application.”
“We had no issues with any of the installation as the Drytac media was perfect for what was needed. Some of the graphics were installed by the clients and the Polar Transit Air made that super easy to do.”
Scope for more work
Such was the success of the project that Prosigns.ca could soon be working with other Loblaws and Zehrs stores in the local area on similar signage and graphics projects.
“We have had excellent reviews and comments on the completed projects from both management, staff and store customers,” Jason said. “All the store managers were very pleased with the results and said they would keep us in mind for any future projects. We have been referred to other stores in our area to do similar interior work.”
Jason also paid tribute to the support of ND Graphics, not only with these projects but also on other jobs Prosigns.ca has completed since it began working with the specialist supplier.
“We would like to acknowledge the team at ND Graphics who introduced us to Drytac media back in 2020,” Jason said. “We were using another manufacturer’s media at the time and were having supply issues due to the pandemic. The Drytac brand satisfied all our needs thanks to the range and versatility of its media, and we have referred several other sign shops to use that product line.”
