Through the remainder of this week, the EPSON Perfection 1650 PHOTO and EPSON Expression 1680 Pro will be featured in the Apple booth (No. 101) and the EPSON Perfection 1640SU OFFICE will be shown in the Small Business Pavilion.
"We have taken advantage of Mac OS X's core technologies to bring a powerful scanning solution to the Macintosh market," said Dan Crane, vice president, marketing, Epson. "Epson remains committed to the Mac community and we are excited to support Mac OS X with our newest scanners."
"By delivering unprecedented power, stability and performance, Mac OS X has received tremendous support from a wide range of developers -- proof positive of the platform's promising future," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of worldwide developer relations. "Epson provides an array of remarkable peripheral solutions and we are delighted to have their products support Mac OS X and the Mac community."
The new EPSON Perfection 1250 series, 1650 series and 2450 PHOTO consumer scanners will offer compatible drivers with Mac OS X, as will the EPSON Perfection 1640SU OFFICE and EPSON Expression 1680 Pro scanners. Epson plans to have the new Mac OS X driver available for download to new and existing users on the Epson Web site in the late summer timeframe. One of the primary benefits of Mac OS X is its built-in support for dual-processor Power Mac G4 computers, providing higher performance for operations such as simultaneous scanning and printing.
Epson will also be demonstrating ArcSoft's consumer oriented photo-editing software PhotoStudio X on its scanners. Using Epson's latest scanners and PhotoStudio X, Mac users can create photo projects such as cards and calendars, professional flyers, brochures or presentations for print, email or posting on the Web. PhotoStudio X leverages Mac OS X's Aqua user interface to provide improved usability, enhanced visual access to features, smoother document motion, and streamlined performance.
