Showcasing DX and SX solutions to the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry 

Tokyo – TOPPAN Inc. (TOPPAN) and TOPPAN Digital Inc., TOPPAN Group companies and wholly owned subsidiaries of TOPPAN Holdings Inc., will participate for the first time in The Pharma Days, the event for the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, which will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 5 and 6.

The Pharma Days attracts many of Europe’s leading pharmaceutical companies and medical device-related businesses. It showcases a wide range of solutions related to the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, including packaging, contract manufacturing, and filling, and hosts discussions on numerous topics. This year around 75 pharmaceutical packaging manufacturers are expected to participate.

This year, the TOPPAN Group will present GL BARRIER,1 its brand of world-class transparent barrier films enabled by proprietary vapor deposition and coating technologies, as well as its Smart Packaging Solution, which combines NFC tags with a cloud-based ID authentication platform.

GL BARRIER

Adding to the conventional solutions on display with smart packaging that features small integrated NFC tags for the vial caps and syringe plungers, the TOPPAN Group will present more specific scenarios in which its solutions can be employed in processes from manufacture and logistics to use of healthcare and pharmaceutical products.

Consumers can scan NFC tags by simply holding their smartphone over tags to receive information on authenticity, traceability, and more. Because metals such as aluminum can affect tag reading, the TOPPAN Group is driving expansion of the Smart Packaging Solution business as an offering that fuses DX and SX and is highly compatible with GL BARRIER, which is aluminum-free.
