Avery Dennison Sponsors 2024 Design-a-Bus-Wrap Student Art Contest

Press release from the issuing company

MENTOR, Ohio – For the fourth year in a row, Avery Dennison® Graphics Solutions is a proud sponsor of the Design-a-Bus-Wrap student art contest organized by Laketran, the public transit agency in Lake County, Ohio. The contest was open to middle school and high school students in the county. The students were encouraged to design a bus wrap showcasing Laketran’s 50th anniversary.

Haily Ambrus, a junior at Mentor High School, was this year’s winner for her bus design themed, “50 years of a greener, greater community.” Ambrus’ design will be displayed on one of Laketran’s Dial-a-Ride buses for one year.
"Avery Dennison is a proud sponsor of this program again this year, and what a terrific milestone, since this year Laketran celebrated its 50th anniversary. We are grateful for the opportunity to support Laketran, our area students and the Lake County community," said Amanda Stefanik, senior marketing communications specialist, Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions.

"Each year the Avery Dennison team enjoys being involved with an initiative in the Northeast Ohio community where our company is headquartered. We appreciate the opportunity to connect with our local area leaders and schools to drive awareness of vinyl graphics among art students, arts programs and art instructors. As Hailey Ambrus illustrates with this year's winning design, graphic vinyl film can be a powerful, creative canvas that is visually engaging and celebratory," Stefanik said. Stefanik, along with Alex Fox, Avery Dennison product manager, were members of the judging panel that reviewed the many student design submissions.

The bus wrap material was donated by Avery Dennison. The bus was wrapped in Avery Dennison MPI 1105 Easy Apply™ RS wrapping film with DOL 1360Z optically clear overlaminate. Avery Dennison also donated their MPI 2528 50/50 perforated film for the bus window graphics.

Akron, Ohio-based Repros Color provided the print production and installation of the graphics on the bus.

“Once again, we had the great opportunity to work with Laketran as they celebrated their 50th year of service,” Repros Customer Support Representative Carlos Caudillo said. “The Avery Dennison materials were printed with the student’s art on our 1650 Canon with UV gel ink and the specialty media color profile.

“The installation went smoothly. The MPI 1105 film is a very cooperative material. It has a good blend of tackiness and adjustability and it’s easy to stretch without using a lot of heat. It's a great choice for vehicles like the transit bus with contours and defined body lines.”
