GPO Named Best Employer in America For New Graduates

Press release from the issuing company

WASHINGTON − U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) has been named one of America’s best employers for new grads 2024 by Forbes. GPO joined agencies such as the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Justice in the Government Services category of the list. More than 100,000 young professionals with more than two million employer evaluations were considered to develop this list, distinguishing GPO as an industry leader committed to nurturing and supporting the development of young professionals.

GPO restarted the Recent Graduate Program in 2022 and has hired 55 teammates through this program. GPO recruits individuals for the program who have graduated from a qualifying educational institution or certificate program within the last two years. The program allows GPO to develop well-educated and highly motivated individuals to fill critical, hard-to-fill professional positions while providing training, mentorship, and career growth opportunities for the members of the program.

“Forbes's recognition reflects our highly regarded Recent Graduate Program, which has brought us phenomenal talent that is applicable across the Agency,” said GPO Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern. “Our recent grads contribute to the work we do for our Government and are helping build our next generation of leaders. It’s great they have chosen GPO, and we look forward to continuing to foster their development and the program.”

GPO plans to hire an additional 40 recent graduates this summer. This program is not just a recruitment initiative but is also a critical element of securing GPO’s future. Many of the Agency’s current teammates are eligible to retire over the next four years, and the Recent Graduate Program plays a vital role in filling these positions with fresh, innovative talent. GPO can recruit from a diverse nationwide pool of candidates due to the Agency’s telework/remote work program. Nearly 70 percent of the recent graduates are eligible to telework/remote work. More than 700 applicants recently applied to two positions that offered this work-life balance.
