Press release from the issuing company
Tony Cooper, Operations Manager, CMYUK
CMYUK, Shrewsbury: Rocket Graphics has upgraded its production equipment by installing a Canon Colorado M5W UVgel roll-to-roll printer from CMYUK. Driven by the need to replace older inventory with a solution that offers faster printing speeds and greater capacity, this investment retires two other older printers, highlighting the company’s commitment to peak efficiency and productivity.
“What particularly impressed us about the Colorado M5W is its speed, ease of maintenance, and enclosed design that protects against material fluctuations. Its increased production throughput, and availability of specialty options will complement our existing plant equipment,” says Tony Cooper, Operations Manager, Rocket Graphics.
Canon introduced the Colorado M-series last March, marking the fourth generation of its UVgel 1.6m wide roll-to-roll production printers. What sets this series apart is its modular, configurable design with in-field upgrades. Customers can enhance their base model with several options including increased speeds (even temporarily), double-sided printing, mixed matt/gloss finish, white ink with just a quick service visit, and a magnetic media kit.
Rocket Graphics has advanced directly to the top-of-the-line model, showcasing a wide selection of premium graphics applications. The Colorado M5W, capable of reaching speeds up to 159 sq. m per hr, allows for the production of matt or gloss finishes at the touch of a button, or combining the two on one print, in a single pass. With this model, the business can easily produce structured, transparent, coloured or reflective media, for a range of applications including self-adhesive vinyl and banners. The inclusion of the PRISMAguide XL function facilitates the easy setup of complex multi-layered print jobs such as underflood, overflood, and 3-or 5-layer print jobs.
Rocket Graphics & CMYUK
As a large format digital printing and production company, Rocket Graphics specialises in brand implementation, signage production, and installation for the events, exhibitions, retail, and venue markets. A full-service enterprise, based in Watford, it was founded in 1995 and has 62 full time staff.
For more than ten years, the company has maintained a partnership with CMYUK, investing in essential EFI production equipment that includes an EFI VUTEk 5r+ UV LED 5m roll-to-roll printer, EFI VUTEk LX3 UV LED 3.2m-wide hybrid, and EFI VUTEk FabriVU 340 dye sublimation printer. Additionally, it buys roll materials from CMYUK, “We benefit from competitive pricing compared to the market, and CMYUK is known for its thorough research into its products, and its reputation for quality,” notes Tony.
The Canon Colorado M5W has quickly asserted itself, sparking immediate interest amongst Rocket’s customer base. “It’s allowing us to produce things that we previously couldn’t, like combined matt and gloss finishes and day-night applications,” he says.
According to Tony, there’s a high likelihood of adding another Colorado to Rocket’s impressive line-up of production equipment. He says, “We are constantly looking forward, evaluating new technology to determine how it can enhance our commitment to providing our clients with the highest quality, quickest turnaround, and best prices.”
