Exhibiting high-performance, high-quality CCM and MEA electrode materials that facilitate hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization

Tokyo – TOPPAN Holdings will join H2 & FC EXPO (Spring), the international hydrogen and fuel cell expo, which is due to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from February 28 to March 1.

H2 & FC EXPO is a showcase of products related to hydrogen energy. The TOPPAN booth (W2-27) will present two electrode materials that can be used in the production, storage, transportation, and utilization of hydrogen: Catalyst Coated Membranes (CCMs) and Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEAs). This is the first time that TOPPAN Holdings is exhibiting a CCM designed for use in water electrolysis.

Main solutions on show

The TOPPAN booth will give visitors an up-close look at high-performance, high-quality CCMs and MEAs, both of which are fabricated using a proprietary sheet-type, double-sided direct coating technique.

1) CCMs for use in water electrolysis
TOPPAN Holdings will present large (600 mm by 800 mm) CCMs that are uniformly coated using a proprietary manufacturing method. Increasing the area of a CCM can potentially enable more efficient hydrogen production and reduction of the number stacks and other types of auxiliary devices. A 600-mm-wide CCM in roll form will also be on display.

2) MEAs for use in fuel cells
TOPPAN is harnessing printing technologies developed over the years to gain more freedom in how the catalyst layer can be designed. At H2 & FC EXPO, the TOPPAN booth will display a sample with a catalyst layer that spells out the word “TOPPAN,” as well as MEAs with 5-layer and 7-layer laminated structures.
