Supporting Kumamoto with DX solutions and manufacturing as the region is revitalized by the semiconductor industry 

Tokyo – TOPPAN Inc. (TOPPAN), a TOPPAN Group company and wholly owned subsidiary of TOPPAN Holdings Inc., will participate in Kumamoto Industrial Revitalization Expo 2024, which will be held on February 28 and 29 at Grandmesse Kumamoto in Kumamoto, Japan.

Kumamoto Industrial Revitalization Expo aims to deliver information and facilitate interaction through exhibits and business discussions by semiconductor-related companies and Kumamoto-based manufacturing business. The objective is to showcase how Kumamoto is being revitalized by companies expanding their presence in the prefecture to drive the formation of a semiconductor-related industry cluster as the region’s creative recovery progresses steadily following the earthquakes in 2016 and torrential rains in 2018.

The TOPPAN booth (Semiconductor Zone: 4045) will showcase a range of the TOPPAN Group’s latest products and services. In the area of electronics solutions, this will include semiconductor-related products that the TOPPAN Group has supplied globally for many years as well as the e-Platch™ smart inspection support service for factories. TOPPAN will also present GL BARRIER, its brand of transparent films that deliver world-class barrier performance enabled by proprietary transparent vapor deposition and coating technologies. The booth will also introduce Safety Dojo VR, a virtual reality (VR) solution with content that provides users with a simulated experience of potential occupational accidents. In addition, TOPPAN’s electronics business will be presented via a Mini-Stage Seminar held during the event.

1) e-Platch™ smart inspection support service

e-Platch™ is a system that uses a wireless network to enable automated collection and visualization of various data required for equipment inspections. Using applications makes it possible to reduce the workload for inspection work because automated email alerts are sent when values exceed thresholds set for each sensor. As a retrofittable add-on DX solution, e-platch™ supports operational process improvement for inspection work.

2) GL BARRIER—transparent vapor-deposited barrier film

3) Safety Dojo VR

This is an all-in-one package providing a virtual experience of occupational accidents to facilitate interactive safety training that stays in the memory. It enables effective training through an experience of hazards that cannot be achieved with video or documents. The pre-installed training content featuring 10 types of manufacturing workplace accidents has been produced with supervision from the TOPPAN Group’s safety training centers and makes it possible to use the solution for occupational safety and health training from day one.
