Press release from the issuing company
Following up on the Digital Imaging Association’s (DIA’s) helpful April 19, 2023, session discussing “The Right Way to be Sustainable,” the organization has now arranged a “Level 201” in-person/online event for Wednesday, February 21 in Toronto. A panel of printers, including Holly Denson-Camp, Sustainability Specialist at Mitchell Press, Deanne Sinclair, owner of Cambridge Label, and back by popular demand, environmental expert Tova Davidson of Sustainable Waterloo, will walk attendees through the steps necessary to build their own successful Environmental Sustainability Program.
One recent study found that more than two pieces of paper are used by every person on earth every hour, and demand for paper is expected to double by 2030! Add to this the energy that printing uses, toner, plates, equipment replacement parts and more, and it’s clear that print shops can make a positive environmental impact. But before printers can reduce their impact, they need to start with clear visibility into how much paper they use and how much energy they consume. Today, the most environmentally sustainable shops recycle, reduce unnecessary printouts, know exactly how much each job costs, implement waste-prevention policies, redirect printing to the most cost-effective devices, deploy e-document and print-on-demand solutions, analyze their substrate usage on a regular basis, and establish sustainability as a daily part of their corporate culture.
