Press release from the issuing company

Friesens is excited and deeply honored to once again be a part of the 2023 Canadian Print Action Awards. This program is now in its 17th year and designed to showcase the very best in the Canadian printing Industry by celebrating over 250 industry leaders in the world of printing innovation, environmental leadership and individual industry achievement. Award winners are determined by a panel of independent judges.

Friesens Corporation is very proud to be recognized as an industry leader, and on November 9th at the Palais Royale in Toronto, ON we were the recipients of four awards across a wide range of categories.

Chad Friesen, CEO of Friesens Corporation, was awarded the Printing Leader of the Year Award. While Chad says he is very grateful to be recognized, he did not want to accept the award as an individual and instead accepted the award on behalf of all the employee-owners of Friesens who contribute to the company’s success. He explains, “At Friesens, we have a saying…"We Before Me" and that phrase symbolizes what it means to be an employee-owner. We focus on mutual benefit over individual recognition."

In addition, Friesens won awards for the following:

  • Best Print Project, the Prairies (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta) for Inuit Sanaugangit: Art Across Time, the catalogue of the Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq exhibition Inuit Sanaugangit: Art Across Time.
  • Warehouse Journal Volume 31 won an award for: Binding Stitching, Perfect Binding, Coil, Wire, Case Binding
  • 2023 Bright Ideas Friesens Gift Journal - Finishing – Deboss

Since we are on the subject of awards, we are happy to share another announcement regarding a recent book printed by Friesens and earmarked as a literary gem. Author Sarah Bernstein has been named the winner of the 2023 Scotiabank Giller Prize for her novel, Study for Obedience published by Knopf Canada. Congratulations to Sarah and her publisher as Friesens is pleased to play a small part in their success.

In the past, Friesens has won over 80 Printing Industries of America (PIA) Premier Print Awards, and our reputation speaks for itself. We are proud of our employee owners who go above and beyond to ensure consistency and exceptional quality in all our products. We have over 116 years of experience in book manufacturing, and we are dedicated to helping our customers share their best story with the world through the power of print.
