September marks a big month for the printer based in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Founded in 1948, Royle Printing is pleased to celebrate its 75th anniversary this fall. The entire month will consist of celebrations for all employees, along with a company-wide event at the end of the month. To show its commitment to the city of Sun Prairie, Royle will be hosting a food drive for the Sun Prairie Food Pantry. In addition to a generous donation from the company, the public is welcome to stop by Royle during the week of September 25th to drop off canned goods or non-perishable food items in the lobby.

The Royle Family, originally from Waterloo, worked at Perry Printing before starting the company in 1948. Royle started in print by owning several publications, including The Star Countryman, the Waterloo Courier, Deerfield Independent, and Dodge County Independent News, as well as several other entertainment and recreation publications.

Over the years, Royle became a printer along with being a publishing company. In time, the printing operation outpaced publishing activities and Royle Printing quickly established itself as a provider of high quality print products to the catalog and publishing markets. The company was owned by the Royle family until 2000, when it was purchased by Chris Carpenter, President & Owner. Carpenter had a strong and diverse career in the industry and saw an opportunity to fortify Royle, while also moving back to the area where he grew up.

Under Carpenter's leadership, Royle Printing has over tripled in size through adding new equipment and personnel. Today, Royle employs 285 employees, generates close to $100mm in sales, and is considered to be one of the fastest growing printing companies in the country.

“To think we’ve been in this industry for the past 75 years and we’re still strongly forging ahead is quite remarkable,” states Carpenter. “The company and our team of dedicated associates has been blessed to work with so many wonderful clients and supporting business partners over the years. Without their support, none of this would have been possible.”

Something that Royle and Carpenter feels sets them apart and has helped them continue to grow is the company culture. “Culture and community mean everything to our company. We value and nurture the human spirit, helping people to grow and continue to move forward with their careers…careers in print!”

Royle has an extensive history in the city of Sun Prairie, starting with an operation in the downtown off main street, then expanding to 745 S. Bird Street. Today, Royle operates from two facilities in Sun Prairie, and will break ground on another major expansion in the coming months on Success Way.
