May 8, 2001 – Gerd Finkbeiner, chairman of the board, MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AG, announced today in a speech to those attending the Web Offset Association meeting in Washington, D. C., that MAN Roland will provide the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF), Sewickley, PA, with a four-color ROTOMAN press to augment its extensive training and research facilities. The 65,000 cph ROTOMAN, one of MAN Roland’s web offset press systems, will be equipped with Power Plate Loading (PPL), AC drive (no line shaft), the highly regarded PECOM control system, and 1:2:3 combination folder. The press will arrive at GATF in the first quarter, 2002, and be operational during the second quarter of the year. The high-productivity four-unit ROTOMAN is capable of printing process color or spot color work. It will be used by GATF for production of training materials that are made available to the printing industry.
