Pitney Bowes Unveils Arrival 4.0 Inbound Package Tracking System

(NYSE: PBI), the global leader in mail and document management technologies, today introduced the Arrival 4.0 package management system with client/server support. Arrival 4.0 accurately manages and tracks incoming packages at multiple sites across an enterprise from one central database.

"The 4.0 version enables large companies with multiple sites to track packages and internal parcels moving throughout the organization. Employees can easily locate an important shipment they are expecting or determine when a colleague has received a critical delivery."
Pitney Bowes Arrival automates the tracking of incoming mail, packages and other priority items; accelerating internal delivery. In addition, the 4.0 version simplifies mail center tasks such as processing "mystery" mail by quickly locating employees and mail locations for incorrectly addressed packages, and it also monitors patterns so corrective action can be taken. The enhanced database management functions also record forwarding information to correctly route deliveries when employees change locations.
Another important feature is Arrival 4.0's ability to capture and save information on an interim storage location - a great benefit for businesses like hotels or convention centers that hold packages or luggage for guests prior to their arrival or for mailrooms holding packages for absent or vacationing employees. This feature automates a very customer-sensitive process, regardless of whether the customer is internal or external.
Arrival 4.0 software works with the Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 to process database information, collect data from each client station and perform tasks such as address searches. The system can support many different client locations as well as operations with high parcel volumes. This new architecture creates a scalable environment for easy upgrading to new technologies when the time comes.
