Press release from the issuing company
Maastricht, The Netherlands, March 14, 2001 - Indigo NV (NASDAQ: INDG) the leader in digital color printing systems, has appointed the largest Brazilian graphic arts distributor, Gutenberg Maquinase Materiais Graficos Ltda., to sell its complete array of Digital Offset Color presses.
Established for over 30 years, São Paulo-headquartered Gutenberg has established itself as the premier graphic arts distributor in the Brazilian and Latin American markets, representing a number of the industry’s leading equipment providers. Andy Middleton, Indigo’s General Manager of Worldwide Distributor Territories commented, “The appointment of Gutenberg as Indigo’s business partner in Brazil is consistent with Indigo’s best-of-class philosophy. Today Indigo’s products are best in their class. In both North America and Europe, Indigo has the leading market share in production-class digital color printing systems. It is only fitting that we have appointed the best-of-class distributor for Brazil, one of the world’s largest potential markets. This is another step towards achieving our goal of generating one-third of our worldwide revenues from distributor sales.”
“We are very pleased to be able to have this opportunity to work with Indigo,” said Klaus Tiedemann, General Manager at Gutenberg. “It is clear that, over the next few years, digital printing will feature more prominently in the printing market and we need to ensure that we focus on the right products to accommodate this. Indigo produces the only truly offset digital printing press capable of printing both personalized documents and short runs. This suits almost all of our traditional customers from large commercial printers to label printers and small print shops, so it fits perfectly into our sales program and expertise.”
