04/09/2001- Fortune magazine ranked Mead number 388 on its listing of Fortune 500 companies for the year 2000 in its April 16, 2001, issue. In addition, revenues (net sales) were listed as $4,368.1 million and profits (net earnings) as $161.2 million. In the prior year of 1999, Mead was ranked 423. Mead was also ranked as number eight (up from number 11) in the Forest and Paper Products Industry listing
