X-Rite and ProfileCity Announce Out-of-the-Box Color Management Promotion

Press release from the issuing company

Boston (Seybold), April 10, 2001 – X-Rite, Incorporated (NASDAQ/NMS: XRIT), a leading global provider of technology solutions that measure color, light and shape; and ProfileCity, an Internet-based ICC profiling service, today announced a special “out-of-the-box” color management promotion for new X-Rite DTP41 customers. From May through December 2001, new customers of X-Rite’s best-selling DTP41 Autoscan Spectrophotometer will receive an in-box coupon redeemable for a free copy of ProfileCity’s ChromaCatcher software, as well as a free custom profile from ProfileCity (a $289 value). The first 250 registered DTP41 Autoscan users can also add ProfileCity support by going to the ProfileCity website and entering their serial number to obtain a certificate for a free copy of ChromaCatcher, as well as a free profile. X-Rite’s Bill Owens, product manager, Printing & Digital Imaging for The Americas, said, “This promotion is a terrific value for DTP41 users. By combining our popular, easy-to-use, fast and accurate DTP41 Autoscan Spectrophotometer with ProfileCity’s simple and innovative solution, users benefit from a quality, automated color profiling solution at unprecedented cost and convenience.” ProfileCity’s basic service relies on X-Rite’s highly automated Spectrofiler color measurement technology to quickly generate ICC profiles, which are then e-mailed to customers. X-Rite’s Spectrofiler has won industry accolades, with a highlight its August, 2000 Seybold Editors’ Hot Pick Award. ProfileCity’s ChromaCatcher technology allows X-Rite color measurement instruments to send colorimetric data uploads directly to ProfileCity's ICC color profiling engine on the Internet. ProfileCity then automatically processes and electronically distributes the custom profiles to the user. The ChromaCatcher interface to the award-winning DTP41 was co-developed with X-Rite and will enable DTP41 users to tap into the most up-to-date color management advances as they become available via the ProfileCity Internet engine.
