Lexar Media Introduces Digital Film into Dixons

Press release from the issuing company

London, England, March 28, 2001 – Lexar Media Europe today announced that it has introduced its high performance consumer line of digital film and accessories into The Dixons Group, one of the largest consumer electronic retailers in Europe.  The products were initially rolled out with a fully merchandised Lexar branded display cabinet into 70 Dixons ‘D21’ stores—a new self service concept in retail shopping—and are now available in all 346 Dixons stores, 277 Currys superstores and 97 PC World stores in the U.K. and Ireland.  The digital film products being rolled out to Dixons includes the popular Lexar Media USB-enabled 4X and 8X CompactFlash digital film (with a sustained write speed of 600KB/second and 1.2MB/second respectively), with capacities ranging from 16MB to 128MB.  Other products in the range include SmartMedia and Memory Stick digital film, with capacities from 16MB up to 64MB. Accompanying the digital film is a variety of accessories. These include PC adapters for both CompactFlash and SmartMedia digital film, allowing easy transfer of hi-resolution images via the PCMCIA slot found on most laptops; and a Flashpath adapter, to read files stored on SmartMedia digital film via the 3.5” floppy disk drive found on PCs or Macs. Also in the range is Lexar’s digital film reader with USB connectivity that accepts both CompactFlash and SmartMedia.  One of Lexar’s most innovative connectivity products is also included, the JumpShot cable, which, in conjunction with any USB-enabled CompactFlash card, offers a low cost, high-speed image transfer solution.
