Toppan iDGate Achieved FIDO’s Core Certifications for its Passwordless Authentication Solutions

Press release from the issuing company

Taiwan – Toppan iDGate, a Toppan company, and Taiwan-based advanced payment authentication solutions provider obtained the three certifications, UAF, U2F and FIDO2 from FIDO Alliance, an open industry association with a mission to standardize authentications to help reduce the world’s over-reliance on passwords.

As reported in Microsoft’s Digital Defense Report on password risks, phishing attacks are responsible for 70% of the breaches which leads to an increase of 220% in adopting strong authentication over the past year*. However, not all Multi-Factor Authentication solutions (MFA) are tamper proof. Rather than directly attacking the MFA itself, hackers attempt to trick users into sharing sensitive information with the goal to steal logins, credit card numbers, and other sensitive data.

FIDO understands the threats behind these fraudulent attacks and hence included in their specifications a feature that prevents the so-called man-in-the-middle attacks. To further support in stopping phishing attacks, TOPPAN iDGate successfully certified its solutions with FIDO and joined the interoperable ecosystems of FIDO authentication solutions worldwide.

Toppan iDGate’s solutions focus on passwordless authentication aiming at replacing traditional passwords and enhancing the user experience in today’s mobile and digital worlds. Through a common and standardized set of frameworks and protocols initiated by FIDO, Toppan iDGate succeeded in seamlessly implementing its unique device binding security techniques and top 20 NIST-ranked facial recognition technologies into their customer’s digital security infrastructure.

Commenting on this achievement, Eric Chow, Head of International Sales at Toppan iDGate said, “Toppan iDGate is probably the only solution vendor in the market that supports on-premises or private cloud deployment with friendly integrations, particularly targeting complex banking security infrastructures and core environments”, he added, “Our authentication methods are exceptionally essential for use cases like passwordless login, cashless payment, eKYC, account onboarding, consumer authentication”.

Together with their NIST-ranked facial recognition technologies, Toppan iDGate is mastering both biometrics and security authentication techniques to provide a highly secure authentication and identity verification solution to banking customers. As of today, Toppan iDGate is expanding their footprints in the GCC market as well as Southeast Asia including Indonesia, and Malaysia.
