W+D Introduces New Blank-Fed 628 BC Envelope Converter with Their Most Advanced Flexo Printing Technology and with Litho Convert Flexibility

Press release from the issuing company

Lenexa, Kansas - After successful rollout of the new easier to operate W+D 628 RC (web) and 628 C (litho convert only) envelope machine platforms which now replaces the W+D 627 model line, W+D is announcing a new 628 BC (print + convert) machine configuration for pre-print litho convert or high quality 2/1 flexo printed envelopes.

The 628 BC is a 900 envelope per minute blank-fed version which now incorporates all new fast changeover and easier to operate 2/1 servo flexo print units. Theses inboard print units utilize the same quick change plate cylinder sleeve technology as used in the W+D 201 and 410 Easy Enveloper models and also will have new optional dryer capability to assist for more range of papers to be printed at the fastest speeds. The 628 platform also has an increased the maximum paper thickness capability further expanding this platforms product range. Auto wash-up of color print decks is also another option that will make this model W+D’s most productive and efficient blank fed printer/converter.

Andrew Schipke Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Sales for W+D North America states “the market for short to medium run length high quality sheet-fed litho and 2/1 flexo continues to grow in the direct mail mix. The new 628 BC blank-fed model with its speed, product flexibility, new ease of operation, and efficiency is well suited to replace two to three legacy W+D 527 or FL Smithe RA legacy envelope converting machine platforms and yield the same net output with higher print and fold quality as envelope manufacturers seek a new lower cost sustainable business model. Also, with a standard complete-cut magnetic die system, the 628 BC will be able to produce highly sought-after USPS TED-C shape-cut envelopes that qualifies for the current USPS 4% promotional postage discounts. Paper waste reduction, more simplified people skills and more man hour output efficiency are the key drivers for the new W+D 628 envelope machine platform. The first 628 BC machines are already scheduled for shipment to the US in November 2022”.
