Quark Announces QuarkDMS Media Portal

Press release from the issuing company

LOS ANGELES (Internet World) -- March 14, 2001 -- Quark Inc. today introduced the Media Portal XTensions module for Quark Digital Media System (QuarkDMS). The QuarkDMS Media Portal makes valuable documents easily available to anyone within an organization. It provides a Web site for content consumers to find, view, and retrieve media files using popular Web browsers. Upon installation with an existing QuarkDMS system, the company immediately gains an intranet site that can be used to access files from the digital media system. Media marked for public access is available to any site visitor, while secure files are restricted to validated users. QuarkDMS Media Portal lets users browse for files by category or search across all media by name or file content. Users can store files that they are interested in or access frequently in a "media basket" that functions like an online shopping cart, and create additional media baskets that can be shared with other users. "Asset management is the key to efficient content re-use. QuarkDMS makes media available to content creators so they can leverage existing work in new projects," said Scott Moore, strategic product manager at Quark. "Now with QuarkDMS Media Portal, all content consumers can quickly find the information they need to do their job." Quark Digital Media System QuarkDMS is a key component of the Quark suite of media-independent publishing software. QuarkDMS is a powerful enterprise-wide solution that lets customers manage a virtually unlimited number of text files, images, and other digital resources. It combines the speed and reliability of an Oracle8 database with a scalable three-tier architecture capable of serving hundreds of concurrent users. The powerful XTensions interface allows developers to extend functionality and integrate QuarkDMS with business systems such as e-commerce, inventory, or accounting. Availability QuarkDMS and optional XTensions modules for QuarkDMS can be purchased from the authorized system integrators listed on the Quark Web site at www.quarkdms.com/purchase/dms.html.
