Press release from the issuing company
3/11/01(WhatTheyThink) DocumentPlanet, Inc. (DPI), a Virginia -based print marketing and management company, has announced the hiring of Eugene Tedrow as Vice President of Sales. They have also just launched a new web site that facilitates their relationships with their high profile clients. In January, the company received $1.5 million in a Series B round of financing from HFS Venture Fund I LLLP, a venture fund affiliated with HFS Capital LLC in McLean, VA. The investment brought the total capital raised by DocumentPlanet to just over $2.5 million.
The addition of industry veteran Gene Tedrow to the company will provide tremendous value to the company. “We consider ourselves extraordinarily fortunate to have been able to land a proven leader like Gene Tedrow,” said DocumentPlanet CEO Frank Felker. “Everywhere he has gone in his thirty-year career he has produced outstanding results.”
Most recently Tedrow was Director of Marketing and Sales at The Stationery House, a subsidiary of the $1 billion Taylor Corporation. Prior to that appointment he was Vice President of Business Development and Sales at RapidForms, which is now a subsidiary of New England Business Services (NEBS), a $480 million concern. During his tenure at RapidForms the company grew from $9 million to $90 million in sales.
“The opportunity to help build a company like DocumentPlanet only comes around once in a lifetime,” said Tedrow. “The combination of unlimited product offerings with world-class technical and customer support makes DPI a very compelling proposition for salespeople. Our network of production partners is outstanding and the addition of strategic partners like Heidelberg and others ensures that we can always deliver a quality product. I can’t wait to get started.”
Tedrow’s immediate task will be to increase DocumentPlanet’s DC sales presence to twelve outbound sales reps while looking toward expansion opportunities in other East Coast cities.
