Press release from the issuing company

San Francisco, California March 5, 2001Macromedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR) today announced that its products grabbed the top two positions in the Application Development category in Datamation's Product of the Year for 2000. Macromedia Flash 5 and Dreamweaver 4 took first and second place, with Allaire ColdFusion 4.5 coming in third place in the contest, which ranked the winners based on developer votes. Macromedia and Allaire announced their intent to merge in January. "Users say the close contest shows that successful Web development depends not on one product, but on the use of several products that compliment each other," wrote Neil Plotnick in the Datamation article about the awards. "Applications for creative Web site elements such as animation, audio and complex menus need to be paired with editing tools that assist in the design and maintenance of Web sites."
