IKON and Adobe Announce Partnership, Launches 60 Digital Demo Stations

Press release from the issuing company

Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, (February 28, 2000) IKON Office Solutions (NYSE: IKN) and Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced a partnership to distribute a hardware/software bundle designed to provide companies with the ability to integrate paper—with electronic-based communications, facilitating universal document delivery and distribution. This partnership will provide businesses a way to standardize document exchange with colleagues and customers using Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files. Building on IKON's strength in providing integrated solutions, IKON will deliver to its customers Adobe Acrobat Messenger software in conjunction with workstations, scanning equipment and digital copying/printing devices. Adobe Acrobat Messenger is a component of Adobe ePaper® Solutions, essential building blocks for intelligent integration of paper and digital document workflows, based on Acrobat 4.0 software. "With Adobe Acrobat Messenger, enterprise users will have a much more efficient and cost-effective way to send paper-based information from one place to another," said Joe Eschbach, Vice President, ePaper Solutions, Adobe Systems Incorporated. "Increasing dependence on the Internet for exchanging documents has made faxing and express mail seem too slow. Together with IKON, we are going to significantly improve the daily life of office workers by making it as easy to send paper as it is to send e-mail." "IKON has consistently relied on Adobe technologies, including PostScript and Adobe PDF, to create standards for the majority of its connected copying and printing solutions," said Barb Pellow, Senior Vice President of Marketing, IKON Office Solutions. "Now, with Adobe Acrobat Messenger, we will bring these customers, as well as companies around the world, the benefit of digital document workflow solutions based on open standards." "The IKON/Adobe partnership will kick off with the introduction of the IKON Digital DemoStation to 60 IKON locations throughout North America," said Richard Brock, vice president of digital office solutions and product development, IKON Office Solutions. "The Digital DemoStations provide business customers with the opportunity to experience first-hand the productivity gains offered by Adobe PDF-enabled digital workflows. They feature Adobe Acrobat Messenger, Adobe Acrobat as well as several other software applications."
