EFI Shows Off Workflow Management and Variable Data Print at OnDemand

Press release from the issuing company

New York, NY — February 26, 2001 — Electronics For Imaging, Inc. (EFI) (NASDAQ: EFII), the world leader in enabling networked printing solutions, announces new products, services, and strategic relationships in digital printing at the On Demand tradeshow in New York February 28-March 2. Focusing on the theme of “Innovative Workflow Solutions,” the company is demonstrating its new Velocity workflow software and variable data printing solutions at booth #1641. EFI™ is announcing Velocity Balance 2.0, the company’s workflow software for print production management. Velocity Balance 2.0 can drive up to ten print devices from a variety of manufacturers to increase productivity. The software can split print jobs among printers, redirect work when printers fail and split jobs between black-and-white and color printers. The company also announced three additional Velocity workflow modules: Scan, Build and Estimate. All Velocity workflow software feature a common, intuitive interface that is easy to learn and use. Demonstrations of Velocity can be seen at EFI’s booth as well as at partner exhibitions. EFI is taking a strong position in the growing area of Variable Data Printing (VDP) through two strategic initiatives. EFI recently announced the acquisition of the Publishing Group of Dutch IT specialist FAIR BV. This group has a demonstrated track record for delivering high quality, customized variable data solutions for companies targeting individual customers. The FAIR Publishing Group will work closely with EFI’s Professional Services group in Europe to develop custom solutions to help maximize corporate investments in digital networked printing. EFI also announced a strategic relationship with Pageflex, makers of the industry-acclaimed Persona and Mpower software for variable data printing. Under the agreement, EFI plans to incorporate Pageflex technologies into future EFI products. “EFI has the unique ability to bring variable data printing solutions to our customers,” said Guy Gecht, CEO EFI. “We are actively seeking strategic relationships with industry leaders in VDP technology like Pageflex, and with implementation experts like the Publishing Group of FAIR. These efforts, combined with our powerful EFI Fiery technology that already supports VDP, offer customers best of breed solutions for personalized printing.”
