Document Sciences To Debut Color PostScript Printing Speed At On Demand

Press release from the issuing company

FEBRUARY 12, CARLSBAD, CA - Document Sciences Corporation (NASDAQ: DOCX) announced today that its PostScript Print Emitter will soon support CreoScitex's Variable Print Specification (VPS). Document Sciences will demonstrate this enhancement at its booth at the On Demand Digital Printing Exhibition, to be held February 29 through March 3 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York. "VPS helps organizations realize the true potential of their investment in high-volume digital color printers," explained Lisa Sutrick, Director of Product Planning and Marketing for Document Sciences. "It reduces RIP processing time by storing repeated document components such as photographs, logos, graphics and text on a CreoScitex Spire color print server, and processing them in advance. Instead of sending information to the printer again and again for each printed copy, data is downloaded and processed just once." Document Sciences is among the first to implement VPS, a specification developed by CreoScitex, whose color print servers drive high-volume Xerox Color Printers. Document Sciences' industry-leading CompuSetâ composition engine and Emitters are widely used to automate production of high volume variable-data documents on Xerox, IBM and other digital printing systems. We are pleased to welcome Document Sciences as the newest member of our Variable Information Partners Program," stated Ronen Cohen, General Manager of CreoScitex' Digital Printing Group. "The implementation of VPS in CompuSet will give its customers access to production-level, color digital printers, adding new applications and helping them expand their business. Despite the presumed added complexity of color digital printing over B&W, the Spire color server's user-friendly interface and intuitive color controls provide a smooth entry into this market." Document Sciences will demonstrate the VPS enhancement to its PostScript Emitter at booth number 1055 and at the CreoScitex booth, number 1349.
