Spectrum Printers Adds Closed Loop Color Control System from Techkon

Press release from the issuing company

Danvers, Mass. – TECHKON – the innovation leader in high-precision color measurement solutions for the global print and packaging communities – announces a PressLink Closed Loop Color Control System implementation with Spectrum Printers, headquartered in Tecumseh, MI. Spectrum Printers is a high quality, service driven company, specializing in commercial sheet-fed color printing and digital short-run and variable printing services and operates in a 24,000 square foot facility.

Driving the decision to implement a closed loop system was the desire to reduce make-ready time, increase efficiency, and improve overall quality. The system was installed on a Komori 628 Press and includes ink presetting, closed loop software, and the SpectroDrive Automatic Scanning Spectrophotometer complete with track. Prior to the implementation, the pressmen were presetting the ink keys manually, measuring with a handheld device, and making adjustments accordingly. “Without a Techkon color control system, print manufacturers are forced to rely on a time consuming and labor-intensive process to achieve high quality color.” states Doug Sherwood, Director of Channels at Techkon USA. The Techkon PressLink implementation eliminates all guesswork and ensures color consistency, reduced waste, and great cost savings.”

Another important objective of Spectrum Printers is the ability to standardize processes across all operators and shifts. The Techkon training and implementation team provides an intensive and highly customized program aimed at equipping all users and managers with the knowledge and hands-on instruction to easily and efficiently use the color control system in their production environment. Andy Van Staveren, President at Spectrum Printers, states, “We’re thrilled with the benefits we’ve gained so far from Techkon’s closed loop color control system, including getting up to color faster and keeping accurate and consistent color.”
