Intergraf Guide to the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement Published

Press release from the issuing company

On 30 December 2020, the EU and the UK signed the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, finalising the UK’s exit from the European Union. The agreement has been applicable since 1 January 2021. To support our members inside and outside of the EU, Intergraf has published a Guide to the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement.

The EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) covers a wide range of areas – including provisions on sustainability, competition, state aid, and data – but the key element is the agreement in the trade of goods.

The deal provides for a tariff-free and quota-free trade of goods between EU and the UK. This is, however, subject to compliance with the appropriate rules of origin.

Intergraf has published a guidance document for our members providing information about the main provisions for EU and UK companies when trading with the other party: the Guide to the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement. It gives an overview of the key customs requirements and VAT rules. It also explains how to understand the ‘rules of origin’ concept for the trade of printed products and provides case examples.

“Intergraf is committed to representing the European printing industry in the widest interpretation of the word. We will continue to support British companies as we do our other members inside and outside of the EU.”
Beatrice Klose, Secretary General of Intergraf

This guidance document is part of a series of recently published Intergraf guides, including the Guide to the EU Ecolabel for Printed Paper and the Guide to the Authorisation of Chromium Trioxide Use for Gravure Printers. Further guides on the STS BREF and Food Contact Materials are forthcoming.

Our guides are available for free for all member companies of Intergraf. You can request a copy via your national association.
