GCEA’s Harold Halliday Passes

Press release from the issuing company

It is with great shock and sadness that I share with you the passing of our long-time staff member and dear friend, Harold Halliday. He worked in the Digital Media Program in the ILT Department as an Instructional Lab Manager starting in 2004 and assisted in the teaching of most of our Digital Media students. Harold served GCEA for a number of years as the chair of the Graphic Communications Week Poster Contest. Harold retired in January, 2020 and was 67 at the time of his passing.

An announcement of Harold’s death can be found at https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/houstonchronicle/obituary.aspx?n=harold-halliday&pid=197647516&fhid=39792

No memorial service is planned. Dave Halliday, Harold’s brother, stated: “With COVID being such a scare at this time, my brothers and I felt it unwise to have any sort of gathering...I will bring Harold home with me to Canada and then to Ireland in the summer where we will bury him with our parents.”

On the above website, there is a request that trees be planted in Harold’s memory in a national forest. Packages range from 10 trees for $85 to 100 trees for $255. I ask that you consider contributing to this worthy cause in memory of our dear friend Harold. If you are interested in participating in this gift, please let me know and I’ll coordinate the purchase. If you’d like to contribute to this memorial, please send me your contribution through PayPal at [email protected]
