Tokyo –  Toppan Printing (Toppan), a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics solutions, will be joining Virtual Africa Tech Festival 2020 (https://tmt.knect365.com/africa-tech-festival/), Africa’s largest and most influential tech and telecoms event. The annual week of events, including Africa.com and Africa Tech, usually takes place in Capetown, South Africa, but this year will be held online from November 9 to 12. The Toppan booth will showcase a range of cutting-edge security offerings centered on government ID and e-government solutions.

Toppan produces and manages government IDs that help ensure the seamless and secure functioning of societies around the world. Toppan’s technologies and services respond to the rising number of IDs being seen as a result of the expansion of biometric authentication and national ID initiatives, such as Japan’s “My Number” system, as well as the increase in IDs for “things” spurred by the advance of the IoT.

E-government initiatives for the digitalization of procedures related to social security, tax, and other areas of public administration have gained momentum due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Toppan’s booth will showcase an array of advanced offerings from Toppan Ecquaria, a Toppan Group company specialised in e-government solutions.

“It is very exciting to be joining Africa Tech Festival this year,” said Takeshi Kabayama, head of the Security Business Center in Toppan’s DX Design Division. “There is growing focus on both IDs and the digitalization of government operations around the world. We look forward to showing how Toppan can deliver what governments need with diverse solutions that ensure security, streamlined processes, and added value.”

Toppan will be running a 24-hour booth during Virtual Africa Tech Festival. Visitors will be able to engage in online chat with Toppan’s expert personnel between 9:00 and 18:00 South African Standard Time (GMT +2), and online meetings can be arranged in English or Japanese.
