L+L Printers adopts new HP Indigo 15K Digital Press technology

Press release from the issuing company

L+L Printers, a West Coast commercial printer, has adopted new HP Indigo 15K Digital Press technology to expand digital possibilities with an extended range of applications, including specialty packaging opportunities.

San Diego-based L+L is serving as a worldwide beta testing site for the HP Indigo 15K, the newest model of the 29- inch HP Indigo Series 4 sheetfed platform. The press is engineered to address the broadest variety of customer demands in a highly productive way.

L+L Digital will be taking advantage of new HP Indigo 15K features such as extended support for thick substrates to target high-growth segments such as digitally printed packaging, as well as image quality advancements for offset-matching quality print.

“Our motto is ‘Never a Drop in Quality’ and the HP Indigo 15K solution will enable us to continue to provide the highest quality digital print products for our customers along with increased productivity. Each step ahead with HP Indigo technology has improved our ability to meet and exceed our client’s high expectations, while growing more sustainable digital printing,” said Bill Anderson, CEO and President of L+L. “New capabilities such as thicker substrate support are a key driver for opening new applications and growth of our digital business.”

The 60-year-old commercial printer adopted HP Indigo digital printing in 2006, providing innovative print to a strong clientele of advertising agencies and marketing departments. L+L has evolved its digital operations with the  Indigo  5000 series, 7000 series, 10000 series, and now 15K.

“We are thrilled to join L+L on their continued journey toward digital transformation. The HP Indigo 15K is yet another upgrade for L+L to offer its customers new value with the widest range of applications in the industry,” said Haim Levit, HP Indigo general manager.

Following installation last month, the HP Indigo 15K was up and running within only one week.

The HP Indigo 15K Digital Press brings higher offset digital print quality and wider versatility with a substrate range up to 24 pt, enabling virtually endless substrate types including paperboard, black and colored, synthetics, and metalized.

The press also supports 14 application-specific inks and unlimited spot colors. New inks include ElectroInks Premium White and Invisible Yellow. The HP Indigo 12000 is upgradeable to many new features of the HP Indigo 15K.

L+L will also be upgrading to the high-performance print server, PrintOS Production Pro for Commercial, enabling the processing of variable data at higher speeds.  In addition, the press features a new version of Automatic Alert Agent to monitor the quality of each printed sheet and remove defects from print runs.
