Mitsubishi Imaging (MPM), Inc. Announces EP Pearl Dual 200

Press release from the issuing company

Rye, N.Y. – Mitsubishi Paper Mill’s has added EP Pearl Dual 200 to its portfolio of acid free silver halide replacement digital media for both inkjet and liquid toner technology. The paper is coated with a special receiving layer to ensure strong toner adhesion and trouble free runnability in electrophotographic (EP) digital presses.

The 200 gsm 8mil dual sided paper can be loaded in digital press cassettes for high production applications. It can run simplex or duplex at high speeds without jamming which has been an issue with other silver halide replacement offerings due to static. The surface has a smooth pearl sheen and is ideal for high-end photobook, photo cards and traditional portrait photography. EP Dual produces realistic skin tones, bright highlights and rich color densities for stunning reproductions of either full color or more traditional black and white imagery.

After printing, EP Pearl Dual 200 can be finished without cracking when folded in the appropriate converting equipment which is a major benefit for printers in the marketplace today. The product is available in 13x19 sheets. There are plans to introduce a longer format sheet in the future to accommodate premium panoramic lay flat photobook applications.

“We are very pleased EP Pearl Dual 200 has been qualified on Konica Minolta’s AccurioPress platform including their new AccurioPress C14000 and C12000. This unique paper for EP Technology has already been used by Konica Minolta Business Solutions, U.S.A., Inc. as well as Konica Minolta Business Solutions Brazil for several key product demonstrations with very positive input from prospective customers looking for a solution to replace aging silver halide processing hardware with a more efficient

1 environmentally friendly option,” said Chris Hung, VP Sales and Strategic Planning, Mitsubishi Imaging (MPM), Inc.

The AccurioPress C14000 is Konica Minolta’s first high-volume, toner-based production press, and its fastest model yet, surpassing the speeds of the AccurioPress C6100 and C6085 with 140 pages per minute (ppm). A second model in the series, the AccurioPress C12000, affords the same print quality and a similarly fast speed of 120 ppm. The machines will help customers that want to expand and streamline their business through advanced automation, fewer human touchpoints and higher productivity with tangible effect leading to increased, high-quality output with less waste. This flagship cut-sheet product is Konica Minolta’s first foray into the toner-based, high-production print segment, and will maximize customer value based on opportunities for business expansion, operational efficiency and improved total cost of ownership with faster investment return.

"We are pleased to add Mitsubishi Paper Mill’s EP Pearl Dual 200 to our approved media guide," said Dino Pagliarello, Senior Vice President, Product Management and Planning, Konica Minolta. "As a long-time global partner, we know first-hand the excellent quality and reliability of Mitsubishi substrates and are confident recommending them to our customers for use on Konica Minolta devices.
